Calcific Tendonitis - Orthopaedic Care - Griffith, NSW
What is Calcific Tendonitis?
Calcific tendonitis occurs when calcium deposits form in a tendon, most commonly in the rotator cuff of the shoulder. This leads to inflammation, swelling, and intense pain, especially with movement. The cause is not always clear but may involve degeneration or cellular changes. Treatment includes rest, anti-inflammatories, physiotherapy, shockwave therapy, or in some cases, surgical removal of the deposits.
